Saltire Soft Play was closed following the incident, which owners believe was deliberate
A soft play centre in Midlothian has been forced to close its doors after the entrance was set on fire "deliberately", according to the "devastated" owners. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to Saltire Soft Play in Mayfield, Dalkeith, after reports of a blaze at around 11.38pm yesterday.
Locals described the situation as "awful", branding the attack on the centre "mindless" and "disgusting" as they voiced their anger, with others adamant those responsible be traced. Hundreds of people voiced their anger on social media. One person said: "Oh my god this is awful! Can’t believe someone would do that to a kids' place, what’s wrong with people?" Another said: "Shocking! Hope they're caught and made to pay for all damage. Disgusting behaviour that's getting out of hand now."
It's the second commercial blow for the business in just two weeks. The owners closed their indoor football pitches on July 30, due to running costs and low usage.
