Golf superstar Scottie Scheffler has been cleared of four charges including second-degree assault of a police officer following his arrest at the US PGA Championship after prosecutors dropped the charges.
Louisville Metro police chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel had stated that efforts would be made 'to respect the legal process' and 'let it play out', while Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed: "We are all looking to move forward. But we have to respect the legal process. And that's what we are going to do. We are going to let that play out.
"He was performing a law-enforcement action as defined in our policy," she continued, as she explained the police's internal policy on the matter. "We understand the seriousness of the failure to capture this interaction, which is why our officer has received corrective action for this policy violation.
