Scottie Scheffler handcuffed by police as PGA Championship descends into chaos in second round delay
The police officer who arrested Scottie Scheffler has been disciplined for failing to activate his bodycam.Detective Bryan Gillis accused Scheffler of refusing to follow orders and accelerating past him, causing injuries that required hospital treatment and 'irreparable damage' to his $80 trousers.
At a press conference on Thursday, Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, chief of LMPD, said: “Detective Gillis should have turned on his body-worn camera but did not. His failure to do so is a violation of LMPD policy for uniforms and equipment. Scheffler's lawyer, Steve Romines, insists the golfer will go to trial and fight the case if the charges against him are not dismissed.“We’re not interested in settling the case,” he said. “We’ll either try it or it will be dismissed.
