The Scottish Green Party has announced that a student will be its candidate in the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election following claims that it was just an SNP "branch office".
Scottish Labour had accused the Greens of being an "SNP branch office" on Monday because the party had not yet announced it would be standing in the by-election. The race to replace Ferrier is viewed by many as a straight fight between the SNP and Labour. But Eadie said he was running “because Green voices have never been so vital”.
He accused the Conservatives of “climate vandalism” after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak backed new oil and gas licences for the North Sea. The UK Government also approved plans for a new coal mine in Cumbria last year.
