A new image from ScreamVI shows the Ghostface killer moving away from Woodsboro to New York City, where the events of the upcoming sequel will occur.
A new image from Scream VI reveals the Ghostface killer in New York City. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with a screenplay written by James Vanderblit and Gary Busick, Scream VI will see Sam and Tara Carpenter , alongside Chad and Mindy Meeks , move away from Woodsboro to New York City, where a new Ghostface killer starts to terrorize them.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, USA Today reveals a brand-new image for the upcoming Scream sequel, where Ghostface seems to look over the city. The image does not reveal much, but it does signal that, even if the main protagonists are trying to leave past events from 2022's Scream behind, a new Ghostface killer can emerge anywhere they go.
The franchise moving to New York also recalls a previous horror series that did the same thing: Friday the 13th. Since the Scream franchise is also known for its meta-references to other horror films, it wouldn't be surprising if the characters make a comment or two about a masked killer haunting them in the streets of Manhattan.
While it's still unclear how Scream VI's latest setting will play out in the upcoming sequel, it could very much change the franchise in some capacity. The directors had previously stated that this installment would be the biggest yet.
