The first episode of the series filmed in Nottingham will be screened in a few weeks
A series documenting Nottingham's A&E department will air next month it has been announced. Channel 4's BAFTA-nominated series '24 Hours in A&E' began filming at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham last year.
The Channel 4 programme screens life film in some of Britain's busiest A&E departments, where "stories of life, love and loss unfold every day". It is the first time the filming has taken place outside of London. Staff and members of the production team were treated to an early showing of episode one at the Broadway Cinema on Monday, December 12. The 45 minute screening induced laughs and gasps, and led to a few taking a trip to the toilet to dry their eyes. A Q&A was held afterwards where producers expressed their thanks and staff shared thoughts on what life was like on one of the UK's busiest emergency wards.
The first episode of the new series will be screened on January 3. Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals, has previously said that they are "excited" to be featured in the new series, adding: "We have one of the biggest Major Trauma Centre’s in the country, and our Emergency Department treats over 600 patients every day, so there will be plenty of interesting patient and staff stories to watch.
It has become one of the most popular documentary series on the channel, having aired more than 250 episodes across 24 series. It was previously announced via twitter that Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust would be welcoming the hit Channel 4 show after its 10-year stint in London.
