It's too easy to be intimidated by Kerry's aura and history. The reality is that they're hugely dependent on David Clifford and, if he's kept relatively quiet, you have a great chance of beating them.
There is only one intercounty football game left in 2024, and what a pairing it is. Galway v Armagh in an All-Ireland final for the first time in the history of the GAA .
He never made excuses when they were ravaged by injuries. Players that had to be thrown into the fray maybe before Joyce would have wanted.Galway deserve huge credit for the way they beat Donegal. After all, Shane Walsh was taken off, Damien Comer didn't score, their captain Sean Kelly was ruled out.But Padraic Joyce hit the nail on the head when he talked about his team being further down the road than Donegal.
The Championship looks likely to be moving into a period where it is far more open than in the past decade. There was plenty of talk before of the attacking platform that Donegal's half-back line of Ryan McHugh, Caolan McGonagle and Peadar Mogan gives them. This was a game where Damien Comer, Cillian McDaid and Shane Walsh weren't at their best but Galway still won.I'm sure Galway will feel this is their time, but Armagh won't be thinking anything different.Much will depend on how both teams go the next week in training, in terms of who's available, who's putting up their hand etc.I remember not being happy with the way I played in the 2003 and 2005 All-Ireland finals, even though we won.
