Shrewsbury Town's youngsters should feel very satisfied after getting to the next stage of the FA Youth Cup, according to coach Sean McAllister.McAllister's side scored five in the first half, before adding four more goals after the break as they thrashed their opponents in front of director of football, Micky Moore, chairman Roland Wycherley and first-team coach Sean Parrish.
"It was a good opportunity for the lads in front of people in the stands," McAllister said."You know, Micky was here watching. "There was a bit of a crowd, and for some, it might have been the first time they have been and played on here . So, I think overall, they could be pleased with the night's work."The Saddlers have already qualified for the next round of the competition, while Salop are already out. And McAllister says opportunities to play at the Croud Meadow, in front of a big crowd, allows the youngsters to put themselves in the shop window.
"The game's coming up next week," he continued."So I don't know if there's the intention to use the lads, but having experience in men's football will probably give them more confidence to use them. "This was an opportunity for them to show that they're ready for that. So hopefully, next week, who knows, I don't. But it is a positive for us, the fact there's nothing on the game, so they might feel more open to throwing the young lads in there."
