A multi-agency search operation to find a missing Waterford man has been stood down following the discovery of a body on Tuesday. Gardai, members of the Irish Coast Guard and dedicated volunteers from Waterford Marine Search and Rescue (WMSR) stopped their search for Mark Myler from Waterford city following the discovery of a body on Tuesday morning, December 31, reports Cork Beo.

Myler, 38, had been missing from his home in the city since Wednesday, December 4 after being last seen in the John's Street area of the city. The WMSR team and the Irish Coast Guard later launched a major search effort, combing the River Suir and surrounding lands using boats and drones over the past three weeks, including Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day. Upon the discovery of the body, a spokesperson for WMSR said: 'The search for missing Waterford man Mark Myler has now ended with the discovery and subsequent recovery of a body this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and families at this time. May he rest in peace.'
