The plans are in the works but no clear date set
Fylde council have confirmed the first steps in 'complex, multi-layered' plans to dredge Fairhaven Lake.
The council have said large amounts of sand-based silt have piled up in the lake over several decades. Recently, the group Fairhaven Lake and Gardens responded to an online question about the upcoming plans for the dredge.Responding to a question regarding if the planned dredge would help with the cleanliness of the water they confirmed the process would allowed for bigger lake depth. The response stated: "The dredge is still planned, we are working on all the details.
Confirming the planned works, Fylde Council have said the large scale project will benefit water sports enthusiasts. However, the added at this stage, there is no certainty of a time scale. "Desilting is required to restore both the depth and clarity of the water and will benefit water sport enthusiasts and local biodiversity alike. In anticipation of what will be a complex, multi-layered operation, Fylde Council has already completed detailed surveys to enhance our understanding of the lakes physical, historical, and ecological elements.
