The Seattle Police Department is investigating a Saturday night shooting that occurred after a suspect reportedly rammed his car into the city's federal building.

The SPD said in a statement that officers who responded to reports of gunshots on Saturday found that a male suspect had crashed his vehicle into the federal building. Officers attempted to contact the suspect, who was reportedly armed, and opened fire.

Seattle police officers and Seattle Fire Department medics tried to offer medical aid to the suspect after he was shot, but the suspect died at the scene, SPD's statement read.
