Anti-abortion advocates say the day of events is about celebrating the overturning of Roe v. Wade and calling on state lawmakers to pass laws that protect lives of unborn children.

Pennsylvania March for Life rally at Pa. CapitolMore than 100 busloads of people are expected to make their way to the Pennsylvania Capitol on Monday for the state’s second annual March for Life.

“It’s put more importance on the states and we’re seeing many attacks on the aspect of just trying to say life is a human right and should be protected,” said institute spokesman Dan Bartkowiak. “So it’s those in the pro-life movement that are just coming together to say life should be protected. That’s what Monday is all about.”

Among the scheduled speakers are March for Life President Jeanne Mancini and Ann McElhinney, who produced and co-wrote a film aboutwho was convicted in 2013 of killing infants born alive, along with others. However, abortion rights supporters argue that constitutional change would open the door to efforts to pass more restrictive abortion laws that would not be able to be challenged in state courts.
