The former fisherman and dockers cottage is 150-years-old and was nothing more than a burnt-out shell when Clive purchased it in 2021.
The new series of Home of the Year has something to suit everyone's taste and the most recent episode features Clive Resten's restored and reimagined cottage in Wicklow.
Clive's vision was to transform the property into a New York-style loft, while maintaining the charm of an Irish cottage. Clive painstakingly restored the stone and brick walls allowing the true craftmanship of its original construction to shine through. He wanted the building to do the talking without being overpowered by modern interference, almost to look like it hasn't been designed at all. He injected new life into it along with the conscious decision to create an analogue home in a digital age.
Clive has fully restored the cottage with immense attention to detail whilst preserving the history of the building and allowing it to do the talking, sourcing unique items to compliment the industrial patinated aesthetic, such as rowing oars from the 1850s and lights from an old theatre.
