One of Ireland’s leading interior designers, Geri O’Toole of Geri Designs, gave her 18th century Limerick cottage a complete renovation. Stage one was completed last year with a huge extension including an open plan kitchen-living area. Stage two is underway with a reconfiguration of the two-bedroom cottage into a large family home she shares with her husband, Cathal Glynn, and their two children Finely, 9, and Edie, 2.Because it has vaulted ceilings so it feels super spacious when we’re in it.
If they want that wooden look on the cabinets, go for an oil rather than a lacquer because a varnish gives a shiny finish. It was important to me to keep that raw, organic feel to the wood, so the oil finish is much better.
