Ruben Selles doesn’t seem convinced by Romeo Lavia SaintsFC
Romeo Lavia has been Southampton’s shining light in an otherwise disappointing campaign – but new manager Ruben Selles doesn’t seem convinced.
The 19-year-old signed for the Saints last summer from Manchester City on a five-year contract for a fee that was reported to rise to £14million.Advertisement Despite never making a Premier League appearance for Man City and playing just two FA Cup games, he’s stepped up for his new club this season. Under the Saints’ three different bosses this term – Ralph Hasenhüttl, Nathan Jones and now Selles – Lavia has made 21 appearances in total in all competitions, starting 18 of those games.
But when asked about the teenager who is attracting attention from clubs in the top six in the Premier League, Selles gave a rather bizarre assessment of how he’s getting on.“I think he [Lavia] has more football to offer and I expect him to offer more football. He’s not there yet, so he needs to step up and move forward.”
