FG Senator Mary Seery Kearney called on the Government to legislate for international surrogacy
The Seanad has heard that there are"at least ten families" with children born through surrogacy where the"second parent" is having access to the child limited due to family breakdown.
She said it also related to situations where the biological father has a serious or terminal illness.In December, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly announced that the Government would legislate for International Surrogacy and that amendments would be introduced at Committee stage of the Assisted Human Reproduction Bill in January 2023.
Minister of State Kieran O'Donnell responded on behalf of Minister Donnelly and said he recognised the urgency
