A Co Antrim couple who had conjoined twins earlier this year have said they cannot wait to enjoy their first Christmas together as a family.

Hannah became pregnant and the couple's daughters Annabelle and Isabelle were born in March.A medical team in London, which supported the pregnancy, had told the couple that it could go either way."And all of a sudden there were these two wee screams. It was unbelievable.""Those two screams were the first of our many miracles," added Hannah.

The little girls' hearts had developed separately, and after tests on their shared liver, it transpired that separation was an option.Hannah and Dan said had they known how hard it would be, they might have reconsidered going ahead with the surgery.Isabelle, said Dan, is the quiet, contemplative type and can be quick to make her feelings known. Annabelle is full of craic, quick to smile and up for anything.

But for now they are just delighted to be home with their twin daughters and looking forward to their first Christmas together as a family.
