Autumn has officially arrived, and there is no better way to usher in the new season than with Practical Magic 2.
Slow HorsesSeason two of the series inspired by Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film sees Theo James return as Eddie, the Duke of Halstead, now fully immersed in the criminal empire run by Susie and her father, Bobby .
Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson and Giancarlo Esposito also return, while the action expands from Britain to Italy, with Sergio Castellitto joining as a crime boss. Hugh Bonneville is another new addition, playing the intriguingly shady Lord Hawthorne. Glen Powell is back under the prosthetics for a second season of the sports comedy, returning as disgraced quarterback Russ Holliday and his alter ego, Chad Powers.
After reinventing himself as a Southern football prodigy, Russ has helped turn around the struggling South Georgia Catfish – but keeping the deception alive is getting harder. With suspicions mounting off the field, Coach Hudson may finally be closing in on the truth. Patrick Brammall stars as Ian Ridley, a police dispatcher and former detective whose three-year-old daughter vanished 11 years earlier, leaving his marriage shattered and his life in decline.
When Ian takes an emergency call from a young woman he believes could be his daughter, he becomes determined to find her, even as those around him remain unconvinced. Maxine Peake also stars in this tense, emotionally charged drama. Sixteen-year-old rowing talent Teagan sees her sporting future derailed when a family scandal forces a move to the East Coast and an elite prep school.
With no girls’ crew, she muscles her way onto the boys’ team as coxswain, only to find the varsity squad in disarray. As she tries to steady the ship, sparks fly with arrogant captain Josh and star rower Cam.became a cult favourite, Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock return as witchy sisters Gillian and Sally. The 1998 original was only modestly received at first, but its mix of supernatural romance, cosy style and family drama found a devoted following.
This sequel, again adapted from an Alice Hoffman novel, also brings back Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, while Joey King and Maisie Williams join as Sally’s daughters, who discover the family curse: any man they love is doomed to die. The Harrigan crime family return for more mayhem in season two of Guy Ritchie’s gangster drama. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are back as ruthless clan bosses Conrad and Maeve, with Tom Hardy as fixer Harry de Souza.
But their empire is under threat from increasingly powerful rivals, forcing the family to strike back hard. As the pressure mounts, Harry’s loyalty is tested. Paddy Considine, Emmett J Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones join the cast. Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology turns to Lizzie Borden for its fourth instalment, revisiting the infamous 1892 axe murders that made her a fixture of American folklore.
Ella Beatty stars as Lizzie, who was accused but acquitted of killing her father and stepmother, with Vicky Krieps, Billie Lourd, Rebecca Hall and Charlie Hunnam also in the cast. The season explores female rage and repression, while branching into other notorious female killers, including Aileen Wuornos, played by Sarah Paulson. Television’s sharpest spy series returns with Slough House under attack, as former MI5 agents are systematically killed off.
Jackson Lamb , as shrewd and slovenly as ever, calls the victims “my Joes”, while River Cartwright suspects his assassin father . With Diana Taverner under mounting pressure and the Slow Horses forced into hiding together, chaos inevitably follows. After a slightly uneven previous season, the show is back at full strength, combining droll humour, gripping action and impeccable performances.
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson turn a real-life rumour into meta-comedy in this heavily fictionalised series. Playing versions of themselves, the True Detective co-stars explore the possibility that they could actually be half-brothers, after Matthew’s mother once hinted at a past encounter with Woody’s father. Holland Taylor plays the hard-drinking “Ma Mac”, while the story folds in sly nods to reality, including speculation about McConaughey running for governor of Texas.
Expect sitcom chaos from Harrelson, with a little more emotional weight from McConaughey. , the 1987–93 Cosby Show spin-off set at the fictional Hillman College. The new series follows Deborah Wayne , daughter of characters from the original, with alumni including Jasmine Guy and Jada Pinkett Smith returning for guest appearances.
Like its predecessor, which helped spotlight HBCUs while tackling race, class and relationships, the sequel aims to reflect the concerns of young Black people today while keeping its focus on love, family and friendship. For its unlucky 13th season, Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology brings back an all-star roster of familiar faces and characters. Jessica Lange reprises all four of her previous roles, while Sarah Paulson returns as six, alongside Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Billie Lourd.
Murphy has compared the season to “The Avengers”, with the ensemble uniting against an ultimate evil. A 14th season is already planned, so whatever they defeat, it won’t be the franchise itself.
