The Seven Lakes Spartans celebrate their victory over the Taylor Mustangs after a 6A Region III District 19 softball game on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Taylor HS, Katy, TX.The Seven Lakes softball team had more hits by the end of the first inning in game three than game two of their Region III-6A quarterfinal series against George Ranch. The fast start propelled the Spartans to a 7-3 victory and the regional semifinals.
A battle of No. 3 playoff seeds was even after two games, as George Ranch answered a 2-1 Spartans victory with a 3-2 triumph. Kennedy Marlow, who had two hits and two stolen bases in game one, was three for three with two more steals, an RBI and a walk to lead the Longhorns at the plate. Jesyca Johnston doubled and scored twice. Karrlauhn Deas was two for three including the game-tying single in the sixth, with Mariah Garner drawing the go-ahead walk.Taylor stops Cy-Fair in area thriller
Hunter Ham doubled home Brett Dolejsi in the sixth inning for the game’s only run. Adam Fitzgerald and Nathaniel Lopez had the only other hits for Taylor, which advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2014. The Mustangs have never been further. Matthew Bishop continued Taylor’s pitching success in game two, allowing two runs on two hits in a 3-2 loss. Caleb Champness was two for three with a triple and an RBI, while Peter Dworaczyk doubled.
