Severe threat lingers along East Coast, Florida today following a damaging tornado outbreak in storm-weary South.
Today, scattered severe thunderstorms with strong wind gusts, hail, and perhaps a few tornadoes are possible from the Virginia Tidewater into eastern North Carolina, as well as a swath of central Florida, including the Interstate 4 corridor from Tampa-St. Petersburg to Orlando to Daytona Beach.
In north Texas, three tornadoes were confirmed in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro, including an EF1 tornado in Collin Co., an EF2 in Johnson County north of Egan, and a brief EF0 tornado also in Johnson County.Other significant damage was reported in Kaufman, Van Zandt, Smith and Rusk Counties in northeast Texas.
Nine tornadoes were confirmed by the NWS in Mississippi, including an EF2 tornado in Jefferson Davis and Collins Counties.
