The man spoke in court only to confirm he was “guilty” of the offences

A County Limerick father has been remanded on bail for sentence after he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of sexually abusing his daughter and indecently assaulting his sister-in-law.

The 67-year old defendant was accused of 54 counts of sexual and indecent assault in respect of the two female victims, however the State accepted guilty pleas to 18 sample counts. He stood in the court dock and admitted 11 sample counts of indecent assault in respect of his sister-in-law, as well as seven sample counts of sexual assault in respect of his daughter.

Lily Buckley, prosecuting barrister for the State, instructed by Limerick County State Solicitor, Brendan Gill, told the court that the man was now registered as a “sex offender” following his guilty pleas. Affirming the court order, Judge Colin Daly said: “Nothing should be reported that could identify either of the complainants”.
