Sinn Féin is attempting to recall the Stormont Assembly again to finalise an organ donor law championed by 6-year-old Dáithí Mac Gabhann who needs a heart transplant
But secondary regulations are required to make it operational and must be approved by MLAs.
The legislation was driven forward by the family of Dáithí Mac Gabhann, a west Belfast boy who needs a donor heart.The issue has become part of the ongoing political wrangle over the restoration of the political institutions at Stormont. But the DUP is refusing to elect a speaker - which must be done on a cross-community basis - until the Northern Ireland Protocol is replaced with arrangements unionists can support.
