Former Celtic and Rangers midfielder Liam Burt was capped at Under-21 international level for Scotland.
The ex-Celtic and Rangers man won two League of Ireland Premier Division titles during his time on Rovers’ books - one with the Hoops in 2023 and again last season while on loan at Shelbourne.
Burt played 16 times for the Tallaght club and he appeared 35 times in all competitions last year with the Tolka Park outfit, scoring twice. The 26-year-old arrived in the League of Ireland in February 2021, shortly after leaving Celtic, joining Bohemians. After two seasons at Dalymount Park he made the cross-city switch to Rovers.
That wasn’t the first big derby switch of his career. Burt made three first-team appearances for Rangers before crossing the Glasgow divide and moving to Celtic in August 2019.It read: “Shamrock Rovers F.C. confirms the termination of midfielder Liam Burt's contract by mutual agreement. “Burt signed for the Hoops ahead of the 2023 season, making 16 appearances, before spending the 2024 season on loan at Shelbourne. The club wishes Liam well in his future career.”
