1.25 million people visited Ireland in January, a significant rise compared to last year when some Covid restrictions were still in place

A total of 1,252,000 passengers visited Ireland in the month of January according to the Central Statistics Office , up 114 per cent from the same period in 2022 which was subject to some pandemic restrictions.

The vast majority, 1,216,600, travelled by air while 35,400 entered Ireland via sea. Britain accounted for the largest share of arrivals with 447,000, up from 164,700 in January of last year.
