After Friday's win in Waterford, Damien Duff reacted to Stephen Bradley's strong criticism of the FAI

Damien Duff has backed Stephen Bradley ’s criticism of the FAI by claiming the association is Irish football’s ‘problem child’.

“This league was called the problem child, wasn't it, for many, many years. But believe you me, there is a problem child. There is a problem child in Irish football, there is a problem child in Irish sport and the biggest problem child is the FAI. End of story.” Ahead of the Molde clash, Shamrock Rovers boss Bradley used his pre-match press conference to hammer the FAI over its treatment of Colin Healy.

FAI chief football officer Marc Canham denied that he or the association had given Healy any guarantee of a role under the team’s new management. But Healy has continued to fight the case and submitted a formal complaint to the FAI, while Bradley described his treatment by the association as “disgraceful’.

Duff, who stepped down from Stephen Kenny’s Ireland coaching staff in 2021, apparently because of certain issues with the FAI, wants to be part of the LMA. Duff has often been critical of the FAI and last summer apologised in writing to staff for saying he would "raze Abbotstown to the ground", and that he would "probably sack 90% of the workforce."
