A woman was violently assaulted on a Dublin bus in May 2024. Gardaí released CCTV footage of the suspect, appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a shocking assault on a woman aboard a Dublin bus in May 2024. The incident, featured in the first episode of Crime Call in 2025, occurred on a busy morning commute. At approximately 8:30 am, a man boarded the S8 bus at Belgard Square West in Tallaght. He is described as being in his 30s, wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. CCTV footage captured a clear image of the suspect as he sat at the back of the bus.
Around 45 minutes later, the bus reached the Grange Road in Rathfarnham at the Eden Avenue bus stop. The victim boarded the bus and sat diagonally across from the suspect. As the bus continued its journey, the man caught the woman's attention and appeared to speak to her. Seconds later, he grabbed her bag and threw it down the aisle. When the woman stood to retrieve it, the man blocked her path, grabbed her arm, and then pushed her down the bus. The bus driver stopped the vehicle, and the suspect continued to push the woman while a passenger attempted to intervene. He then grabbed the victim by the hair and dragged her towards the open door. Despite being pulled and pushed, the woman managed to hold onto the handrails and stay on her feet. The suspect grabbed her by the neck and hair, attempting to throw her off the bus. Another individual intervened, prompting the suspect to retreat. He retrieved his bags and coat, exiting the bus and disappearing down a laneway leading to the Grange Court estate. This is the last known sighting of the suspect. A Garda spokesperson on CrimeCall urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the terrifying nature of the incident and the need to identify the suspect.
