The suspect in the Michigan State University shooting has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.
EAST LANSING, Michigan — A gunman opened fire Monday night on the main campus of Michigan State University, leaving at least three people dead and five others wounded before being found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say.confirmed the fatalities late Monday night on Twitter. The wounded victims were being treated at Sparrow Hospital, some with critical injuries.
Rozman said police are trying to determine the identity of the suspect and it’s unknown if he is a student or has another connection to the university. Rozman also said it’s unknown if the victims are students. Rozman said there were reports of shots fired near Berkey Hall on the East Lansing campus at about 8:18 p.m. Not long after, shots reportedly were fired near the MSU Union Building, Rozman said. Two of the fatalities were at Berkey Hall and one at the Union, Rozman said.
Police say all campus activities have been canceled for the next 48 hours, including classes and athletics, and people were told not to come to campus.saying she was “Holding the entire MSU community in my heart.”
