Sunday afternoon shooting outside Bessemer brunch event leaves 1 dead, 1 detained
Gunfire rang out Sunday afternoon in a Bessemer parking lot, leaving one man dead and another in custody.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. outside Plush Bar and Grill in the 4000 block of Ninth Avenue. According to the business’s Facebook page, it holds a “Baddies Do, Do Brunch” event each Sunday beginning at noon. Bessemer police Lt. Christian Clemons described the scene as somewhat chaotic, but investigators believe no one else was involved other than the victim and the suspect.This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
