'You maybe expect a couple of quid and that is it'
A shopkeeper has shared their disbelief over a customer's 'life changing' £300,000 lottery win. Karen Parkin, 51, won £300,000 on a National Lottery scratch card which she picked up while shopping at Sonia's Stores on Park Lane, Basford.
Shopkeeper Nayan Lad, whose wife sold the winning scratch card to Karen a few weeks ago, said the money was 'life changing' to his customer. "It happened a couple of weeks ago, my wife was the one who sold her the scratch card. It's a nice feeling - for such a good thing to happen to a regular customer," Mr Lad said."You maybe expect a couple of quid and that is it, not to win the jackpot. Every little helps but that is a life changing amount of money.
Speaking about the moment that she discovered her win on October 18, Karen said: "I scratched the first one and saw that I'd won and just sat there. I can't even remember if I scratched the second one, it's all a bit of a blur.
