Actor Jean-Paul Vignon, who starred in Shrek and 500 Days of Summer, has passed away at the age of 89 after a battle with liver cancer - his heartbroken family have shared
Shrek and 500 Days of Summer star Jean-Paul Vignon has died following a battle with liver cancer. The actor and French singer passed away in Beverley Hills at the age of 89.
The US actor launched his career in France during the 50s when he performed as part of a cabaret in Paris and secured roles in several French movies. He moved to New York and opened the stand-up show for Woody Allen in 1963. He enjoyed a lengthy career in acting while in the US, starring as Andre in Gilmore Girls and Monsieur Lazare in Days of Our Lives. The star also played a supporting role in the World War II film The Devil’s Brigade and hosted the Canadian show The Sensuous Man.
"Ironically, rather than compare his voice to such renowned Gallic crooners as Maurice Chevalier and Gilbert Bécaud, Vignon says that he has a Bobby Darin kind of voice, able to sing fast and passionate or gentle and slow."
