Mohamed Marivia was part of an organised crime network with brothels in five cities
A man has admitted running two brothels in Preston and supporting an organised crime group which trafficked women across five cities for sex.
Mohamed Marivia, 44, pleaded guilty to managing brothels in Rose Lane and Samuel Street over a 10 month period in 2022. Preston Crown Court heard the criminal network had a total of seven brothels in five cities across the north of England. In addition to two counts of keeping or managing a brothel, Marivia, of Romford Road, Preston, admitted participating in the activities of an organised crime group .Judge Guy Mathieson said five women had been trafficked between seven premises and put to work as "sex slaves." However he adjourned sentencing Marivia so that his case could be linked with other members of the OCG.
The judge granted Marivia bail and ordered him to appear at Bolton Crown Court on April 26. He warned him: "To traffic women from Eastern Europe, to traffick sex slaves, is a sickening thing for a person to have done.He said the case would have to be measured in the context of what others in the gang had done but "that should give you absolutely no optimism for the sentence."
