“We've done a load of work this winter'
Silverstone has made changes to its track after a horrific crash at the 2022 British Grand Prix. Alfa Romeo Formula 1 driver Zhou Guanyu was involved in the shocking smash last year.
The car then shot into the air, clearing the tyre barrier until it was stopped by the catch fencing. It dropped between the two safety devices to leave Zhou temporarily stuck in the cockpit. Amazingly, the Chinese driver escaped without incident and this season, governing body the FIA has increased the stringency of crash testing for the roll hoop to reduce the likelihood of it digging into the ground.
