.Simone_Rocha_’s first exhibition contains a subversive vision of womanhood

This willingness to provoke comes through most clearly in a number of pieces that speak to the female form through less obvious means. There are the German artist Iris Häussler’s uncanny wax casts of her niece’s floral nightdresses—Rocha poetically describes them as “so fragile, like they’re holding memories”—or Cross’s stilettos, covered in cowhide and featuring teats attached as macabre toe caps.
