A simple trick using a radiator reflector can help your home heat up more efficiently this winter, saving you money on your energy bills.
People around Ireland have been dealing with incredibly low temperatures, ice, frost and snow this past week. With longer nights and many weeks still left in winter, ensuring that your home heats up efficiently is very important. But you don’t need to spend a fortune to make a difference when it comes to your radiators. There is one simple trick that people have shared over the years, but it doesn’t seem like it would work - and all you need is a radiator reflector .
Some people even use tin foil. It’s recommended that people try placing either items behind your radiator. The idea is that the panel will act as a barrier and reflect the heat back from the walls and force it into the rooms. This prevents the heat being absorbed by the walls. I tried it out and found that depending on your room, it can actually help boost your heating. I initially tried using tin foil and placed it behind different radiators around the house to test which locations the hack would work best in. I then tried it again with the radiator reflector to see if the results would be any different. The first room was a bedroom with two external walls. The trick actually helped the space heat up twice as quickly. Normally, it would take around 1.5 hours and sometimes up to two hours, before the chill is completely taken from the room. However, using the reflector, the warmer temperatures could be noticed within 45 minutes. I found that the reflector was much more efficient as it was thicker and also easier to stick behind the radiator as it would easily slot in behind it, whereas the tin foil would keep bunching up and tearing
