Her life, and a work as an activist, has been described by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as leaving"an indelible mark on the soul of popular music"."With a distinctive multifaceted voice and a striking presence that challenged traditional views of femininity, O’Connor was ahead of her time expressing her unrepentant rage and sorrow over then-taboo subjects like women’s rights, organised religion, child abuse, and oppression".
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said"this remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates".
