Sinn Féin has said that it is satisfied that its party accounts are in order, following a complaint made to the Standards in Public Office Commission regarding election returns

In a statement today, a spokesperson for Sinn Féin said that it responded to queries from SIPO on foot of a complaint."Our independent auditors are satisfied that no amendments to our party accounts are required," the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for European Affairs Peter Burke said that further explanations are required from the Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald and finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty on foot of the complaint to SIPO. "As candidates for future Taoiseach and Minister for Finance, it's critical we have clear explanations without delay," he said.

Meanwhile, Sinn Féin has accused Fine Gael of trying to distract from breaches of election rules by their own party.
