Manchester United icon Bobby Charlton passed away almost a year ago at the age of 86 and left behind his wife Lady Norma Charlton but ensured she remained well looked after
The Red Devils great passed away last October. Tributes poured in following the news of his death. Charlton left behind his beloved wife Lady Norma, while he was also survived by daughters and grandchildren. Ahead of his funeral, Lady Norma wrote a touching message to her husband.
And it appears that Charlton has ensured his long-term partner will remain looked after. Probate documents signed off by a Manchester court show that Charlton had an estate worth around £652,000, reduced to £631,000 after personal debts and funeral costs were settled, that he left to Lady Norma. The pair apparently met at a Manchester ice rink and were married in 1961. They raised two daughters. One of Charlton’s grandson’s, Robert, was named after his famous Grandad.
“A true gentleman, family man and truly a national hero… Today isn’t just a sad day for Manchester United & England, it’s a sad day for football and everything that Sir Bobby represented. Our thoughts go out to Lady Norma, their daughters and grandchildren. Rest in Peace Sir Bobby. Today our hearts are heavy.”
