Roads across the county have seen fatalities
Road safety experts have spoken out after a tragic week on Lancashire's roads saw four families devastated as their loved ones never returned home.
Less than 24 hours hours later, another fatality occurred when a Toyota CH-R and a Mercedes C220 crashed on the Accrington Bypass. Emergency services were called at around 8pm on October 13. Both vehicles landed on the grass and the Toyota landed on its roof. Any witnesses should contact 101, quoting the log number 0786 of October 14 or email [email protected]
Sarah’s fiancé, Chris, said: "Sarah was a beautiful, amazing mother, sister and partner, there is a hole in our life that can never be repaired. Love you and miss you like crazy. Until we meet again Chris." Mary Williams OBE, chief executive of Brake, the road safety charity, which runs the National Road Victim Service, caring for bereaved and seriously injured road victim families, said: “The carnage on roads, that takes lives indiscriminately, devastates families, and causes appalling injuries, must end. No death or serious injury on roads is acceptable.
Andy Pratt MBE, Chair of the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner said: "It's been great to bring together the members of the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership at this engagement event and visualise the number of organisations that are working together to keep people safe on the county's roads and respond when incidents do occur.
Also among those caught were 22 people without MOT, four with dangerously low tyre tread, 52 driving in a careless/inconsiderate manner and 42 people driving under the influence of either alcohol or drugs. One driver was clocked doing a whopping 106 mph on the motorway in high winds, while another was caught red handed doing 102 mph on a 40mph road.
