She joined the launch team of Sky News in 1989.Burley's personal life has seen its share of highs and lows. She was married to fellow reporter Steve Burley from 1980 to 1986 and later to Steve Kutner, a former agent of retired Premier League footballer Frank Lampard. They had their son, Alexander Kutner, in 1993, but divorced a year later. Despite the two divorces, Burley considers both marriages successful. She has also been in a relationship with former political editor turned PR expert George Pascoe-Watson, but they separated in 2009.Burley's familial bond is deeply affected by breast cancer. Her mother succumbed to the disease when she was 57, leaving Burley to raise her then eight-month-old son. The loss profoundly impacted her, as she shared on Good Morning Britain, recounting her mother's heartbreaking words: 'I'm going to die,' and Burley's desperate plea: 'I can't live without you, Mum.' Her grandmother and aunt also died from breast cancer, highlighting the devastating impact of the disease on her family. Burley is proactive about her health, undergoing regular screenings, MRI scans, and mammograms to reduce her risk. Recently, she shared her younger sister Jacqueline's battle with the same illness, expressing her deep concern and pain.
