A woman killed after being hit by a train in Co Sligo on Wednesday has been named locally.
A woman killed after being hit by a train in Co Sligo on Wednesday has been named locally as Jessica McLoughlin.A second woman aged in her 20s, and understood to be related to Ms McLoughlin,Investigations are underway into how the incident involving the 3.05pm service from Sligo to Dublin happened.It is understood both women were walking along the track heading back towards Sligo.Local councillor Thomas Healy has said people there are numb.
"There's a lot of people in the area - we're a very close community down here in Ballysadare and Collooney - and when the first [news] came through we didn't know who it was or what it was."Seeing passengers coming off the train, there was a lot of people that were really annoyed and upset at what happened.Irish Rail has described the events as a"tragic incident".
It said a full schedule of services will operate on Thursday between Sligo and Dublin's Connolly Station.
