Nottinghamshire Police are investigating a burglary at a Thorntons chocolate shop in Worksop. Officers were called to the shop in Bridge Street in the early hours of Monday, September 4.

A shop window had been smashed and items stolen from inside. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with the incident. . Thorntons began in Sheffield in 1911 when Joseph William Thornton set up the first shop at 159 Norfolk Street. The store was taken over by his son Norman and later the grandson of the founder served as chairman for the company. In 2015, Thorntons was bought by Ferrero for £112million.

Ferrero launched Nutella in 1965 and Kinder Chocolate in 1968, as well as Ferrero Rocher in 1982 and Tic Tacs in 1989.
