The trial of British nurse Lucy Letby continues in Manchester, England. Letby is alleged to have killed 7 babies and attempting to murder 10 others. She denies all the charges against her.
Room 1 of the hospital’s neonatal unit is where Letby allegedly injected a fatal amount of air into the bloodstream of one baby .
A jury at Manchester Crown Court heard how one baby, who can only be referred to as Child I for legal reasons, weighed only 2 pounds and 2 ounces when she was born 10 weeks premature at Liverpool Women’s Hospital August 2015. "While we were bathing her, Lucy came back in. She was smiling and kept going on about how she was present at the first bath and how [Child I] had loved it.
She said,"I was able to sit her on my knee. I remember looking at her and thinking ‘We are going home’. She looked like a full-term baby. She didn’t look frail or small."
