There will be a change to the usual social welfare payment dates next week and recipients should be aware of the shake up so that they aren't caught out by the swap

People in receipt of certain social welfare payments should be aware that there will be a payment schedule shake up next week. This will affect anyone who is due to be paid on the 3rd, as well as anyone due to receive Child Benefit on Tuesday the 4th of February.

Because of the bank holiday, anyone in receipt of Child Benefit will most likely also be paid early, on the Friday or Saturday also. This is to ensure that no one receives a late payment as a result of the banks being closed. The grant of €280 is paid alongside the child's first Child Benefit payment of €140, meaning that altogether parents will receive €420 in respect of their new baby. It was rolled out in January for children born or adopted after the 1st of December. The grant is automatically paid in respect of any newborn baby who has been registered to receive Child Benefit.
