Falls Park, Woodvale and Ormeau Parks and the Forth Meadow Greenway to be looked at
Belfast residents are to be asked their opinions on planned new opening hours at a number of parks across the city.
Botanic Gardens however was open for 24 hours during the first wave of Covid, but this experiment was marred by antisocial behaviour as a result of late night/early morning gatherings, which provoked intervention from the police. “Now that the final section of the scheme has completed the proposed consultation on Forth Meadow Greenway opening hours will be an opportunity to consider deviating from the existing ‘dawn to dusk’ opening hours for each of the park sites along the greenway and the connecting sections. Consultation is required to ensure that the benefits and other impacts on residents and users, are considered at a local level.
The report says the consultations and engagement plans for the opening hours pilot will be developed over the summer and carried out in the autumn this year, leaving the pilots to be exercised next year.
