Wines for the Weekend: These two Italian wines from Aldi offer great value for money
this week, both offering great value for money. Gavi is in Piemonte in northwest Italy . Made from the Cortese grape, the wines are usually light and fresh. Some less expensive versions can lack flavour, but not this one from Aldi .
For our red wine we move down to Tuscany. Here the Sangiovese grape is responsible for some of the region’s greatest red wines, including Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino. While this wine may not reach those lofty heights it does offer good value for money.Crisp and refreshing with zesty lemon and green apple fruits, finishing dry. A good sipping wine that also pairs well with shellfish or creamy pasta dishes.
