Some Mitsubishi Outlanders Are Throwing Blanks With Their Reverse Cameras | Carscoops carscoops
models in the United States are being encouraged to bring their vehicles to a local dealer to resolve an issue with the Alliance In-Vehicle Infotainment system.
A notice issued with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals that a black screen may be displayed on the infotainment screen when reversing. This means the Outlander does not comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 and could increase the risk of a crash or injury to a person behind the vehicle.
Mitsubishi first received a field report about the issue in June 2021 and started an investigation. Between June 2021 and September 2021, it received 3 additional field reports and continued to investigate the issue through May 2022. On June 24, 2022, it determined that a potential non-compliance cannot be ruled out and decided that a field action was necessary.
