After the 11-year-old orange tabby died, the Adams County family said it makes them nervous to know someone so cruel could be living in their community.

“I wasn’t prepared for what I was going to see,” Johnson said. At first, she thought Chuck had been shot by a bullet. “To see the arrow completely impaling him was very jarring.” “The family spent Christmas grieving Chuck’s death and wondering who did this to Chuck,” police said. Being in the heart of central Pennsylvania, Johnson knows bow hunters are around, she said. But her neighborhood is a development and she doesn’t think people are just casually shooting around their properties.
There are three other cats in the home, and one of them has taken up a post at the back door, seemingly waiting for Chuck. The cats also have been smelling where he bled on their floor. Since the story hit Facebook, Johnson has been blown away by the outpouring of support she has gotten from the community.
