For owner and founder Jeff Allport, the journey from Vancouver to small-town Saskatchewan began several years ago when he started brewing as a hobby — right around the time that craft beers took off in popularity.“I always have a hard time at titles,” he said with a laugh. ”Brewer, janitor … logistical mastermind … I don’t know. We try to have a very egalitarian company structure.”
In the world of wine tasting, the term “terroir” refers to how the environment — water, soil, climate — of an area affects crops and grapes, giving a wine its unique characteristics. All barrel-aged brews follow a naming convention that crate-digging music fans will appreciate. References to the world of Japanese Psychrock, the pre-Motorhead musical output of Lemmy Kilmister and nods to the world of Krautrock are present across the bottled goods.

They see our delivery driver’s face more than they see mine.”Regina Leader-Post Allport started as a homebrewer in Vancouver surrounded by the explosion of craft beer and breweries like Central City, Driftwood and others.
“We’d heard stories of people buying houses in small towns for as little as $5,000 or $7,000 kind of thing,” he said. “We’re like, ‘Whoa, that’s crazy. That’s rent for like two months.’ The first three years, Allport paid himself $1,000 a month. All profits went right back into the business to buy new tanks and pay down debt until, finally, he could up his wage.
