Son of former Irish champion boxer has first ride as a jockey at the Curragh

Terry Casey rides Lia Fail for trainer Michael Mulvany in the 2:10pm race at the Curragh this Saturday, the second race on the card.

THE teenage son of one of the best known professional boxers in recent times in Ireland rides in his first race at the Curragh on Saturday.

Terry is the son of Willie ‘Big Bang’ Casey, who famously fought the brilliant Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux for the WBA World Super Bantamweight title in 2011. Terry is from Southill in Limerick City and like Wesley Joyce, came to racing through the Moyross Youth Academy equine programme. Terry first came to the attention of the Moyross Youth Academy as a 5th class pupil when they held their horse education and welfare programme in his school and he showed great interest in horses.
