Jamie Moynihan, son of four-time All-Ireland winner Seamus Moynihan, led St Brendan's College, Killarney to a crucial win in the School's Championship against Tralee. The young midfielder's standout performance has his school on the brink of Corn Uí Mhuire glory.
The son of Kerry legend Seamus Moynihan appears to be a chip off the old block as he inspired his school to victory with a towering midfield performance. Carrying the surname of Moynihan undoubtedly adds a lot of pressure, but youngster Jamie seems to handle it well after inspiring St Brendan's College, Killarney to an upset against Tralee in their School's Championship clash.
While dad Seamus won four All-Irelands and three All-Stars, Jamie is vying for a Corn Uí Mhuire title with his school, and they are now just two wins away from glory. Lining out in midfield, Jamie pitched in with 0-03 (0-01 free) but was a Goliath in the middle of the park as the side breezed to a 1-18 to 1-09 win at Austin Stack Park. In his own playing days, dad Seamus also won nine Munster titles and three National Leagues and will no doubt be hoping his son has the caliber to play for the Kingdom in a few years. Seamus announced his inter-county retirement in 2006 before retiring from his club for good in 2011. Get the latest sports headlines straight to your inbox by signing up for free email alerts
